Arup Das has been named Chief Technology Officer of Octro Inc.

Octro, a provider of online games such as Teen Patti, Indian Rummy, and Tambola, has appointed Arup Das as its new chief technology officer. He will work out of Octro's Delhi-NCR office, which is owned by private equity firm Sequoia Capital. Octro has a leadership position in the online gaming industry, with almost 200 million users, as well as a strong presence in the Indian leisure and sports activities industry, with a projected user base of more than 700 million  in India.

As per Octro, the online gaming market in India is predicted to be valued Rs 29,000 crore, with an estimated user base of 650 million people, according to a KPMG report. According to AIG, 76 percent of all gamers believe that gaming develops strong analytical ability because it is required to determine the best technique to win a game, as according Octro.

Das is an accomplished technologist with an MBA from Wharton Business School and an MS in computer vision and image processing from the University of Calgary in Canada. Cisco, Nucleus Software, Aristocrat, and Goals101 were among his prior employers.

Arup is a skilled business executive with over 23 years of expertise in ERP, Data Science/Data Engineering, Cloud Computing, and other digital products. Arup was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Product Officer (CPO) at Goals101 AI, a 5-year-old VC-backed fintech firm, went on to join Octro. He was previously a Senior Director, R&D at Aristocrat Technologies, where he oversaw a 225-person engineering and product team spread across the United States, Europe, and India. Apart from that, Arup has collaborated with a number of notable software businesses, including Cisco and Nucleus Software. 

Arup holds an MBA (Palmer Scholar) from the Wharton Business School in the United States, an MS in Computer Vision / Image Processing from the University of Calgary in Canada, and a BE in Computer Science from Jadavpur University in India. He was also a founding volunteer of Cricinfo, and as a volunteer, he has covered international cricket matches.
